Whether it be a little extra basil from your Aunt's window box or a plentiful crop of tomatoes from your own backyard, homegrown green thumbs often find themselves with a surplus of food beyond that which they can consume themselves. So why not share or sell that inventory to a growing number of conscientious consumers seeking fresh locally-sourced food? Well now you can with BumperCrop.
The secret to any thriving venture is good roots. And, we've certainly got 'em. BumperCrop began as one man's idea for putting people back in touch with what they eat and where it comes from. A backyard food grower himself, he took his idea on the road, and with the help of four other passionate folks, was able to take the silver medal at the 2012 Startup Bus competition at SXSW Interactive in Austin, TX.
Now that we've returned home from Austin we've been able to get some rest, spend some time with family and begin planning the release of BumperCrop. We have many great ideas to compliment the original vision and bring a robust set of tools to life. Nowhere else will local growers and consumers be able to come together like they will on BumperCrop. Look for rollout in select cities this Fall.
